- The course websites are located within Blackboard Vista - You must use your NEO login and password (see above) to access Vista
- You will not gain access to the course website and materials until you have been cleared by the University
- The course website contains a calendar, links to the course syllabus, access to synchronous communication,
“Chat,” and asynchronous communication, “Discussion Board(s)”
- The course is calendar driven, and the calendar inside the course website contains
- class lecture notes
- class videos
- homework files
- readings
- quizzes and exams
- etc.

Degree Plan and Graduation Click here
- Degree Plan
- Each graduate student must submit an official degree plan to the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS) for approval. The degree plan formally declares your degree objective, the membership of your advisory committee, and the specific courses that you will be required to complete as part of your degree program.
- You must have a advisory comittee made up of a chairperson, member, and outside member. Possible outside members within our department are Dr. Maria Barrufet and Dr. Tom Blasingame. By default your advisor and committee chairperson is Dr. Maria Barrufet. For more information about committees please contact us.
- You will develop your proposed degree plan in consultation with your advisory committee. The degree plan must be approved by your advisory committee members, your department head and, if applicable, your intercollegiate faculty.
- Completed degree plans must be submitted to OGS according to the following regulation with the student meeting whichever of these deadlines falls earliest:
- following the deadline imposed by the student’s college or interdisciplinary degree program
- no later than 90 days prior to the date of the final oral examination or thesis defense for master’s students or 90 days prior to the date of the preliminary examination for doctoral students
- according to deadlines published in the OGS calendar each semester for graduation that semester

Exams and Defenses Click here
All MS/MEN distance learning graduate students must go through Final Exams/Defense before graduating.
Students are responsible for the following:
- Do a degree audit to make sure all is ready to take Final Exam/Defense
- Get forms from the OGS Website
- MS/MEN students should have their committee member’s verbal agreement on the time and date of the exam. Once a time/date has been set, students will contact OGS to make sure there are no blocks and can proceed forth to fill out the announcement form and checklist which is located on the OGS website. Students can forward this form to Laura for help in obtaining signatures and completed forms will be sent to OGS for approval.
- Students work with the distance learning team to ensure that the meeting equiipment and facilities are set up.
ALL STUDENTS MUST SEND IN A COPY OF THEIR HEALTH INSURANCE AND INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS LIVING IN THE U.S. MUST ALSO SEND A COPY OF THEIR VISA TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SERVICES. THESE FORMS MUST BE RESENT/UPDATED IF AND WHEN THEY EXPIRE.
