Public Energy Education Committee (PEEC)

The main focus of this committee is to educate grade school children about the importance of energy. You will have the opportunity to visit nearby schools and participate in an interactive presentation. This committee also participates in Engineering Week in an attempt to inform all ages about energy.

Philanthropy

The purpose of this committee is to better our surrounding community. The Big Event SPE team, Scotty’s House Fundraiser, holiday toy drive and Thanksgiving food drive are all organized by the members of this committee.

Recruiting

The primary event for the recruiting team is the SPE-GCS high school recruiting week that is held at various Houston area schools in the fall. Members have the chance to represent the Texas A&M petroleum engineering department at these fairs. This committee is also in charge of representing TAMU-SPE at recruiting events held at Texas A&M including MSC Open House and Aggieland Saturday.

BBQ

This committee is in charge of organizing and cooking at home football games and other SPE events.

Food

The members of this committee organize the food served at SPE meetings and other SPE events.

Membership

This committee is made up of a representative from each class (freshman to graduate) in an attempt to involve and inform all students in petroleum engineering of the various SPE events being held.

Webpage

The purpose of this committee is to update our webpage with upcoming event information and sponsor lists.

DVG Golf Tournament

The DVG Golf Tournament is held annually in the spring to raise money for petroleum engineering scholarships. Major tasks include contacting sponsors and organizing the tournament location.

Lunch & Learn/Company Presentations

This committee is in charge of planning Lunch & Learn presentations and company presentations with company representatives. Responsibilities include organizing media equipment and lunch or dinner for the presentation.
