Gary Mabie
Gary Mabie has over thirty years experience in upstream oil and gas exploration, production operations and acquisitions. Gary is a seasoned professional with broad operations and technical expertise. He has excellent communication and management skills complimented with a strong leadership background. His experience includes domestic onshore, offshore and international sectors. He has worked in a wide variety of environments to include independents, major, and privately held companies.

Gary’s current position is President and Chief Operating Officer of SunCoast Energy Corporation, a newly formed start-up company incorporated to acquire and develop oil and gas properties in the Gulf Coast states.

From 1997 to 2000, Gary was responsible for domestic onshore exploration, exploitation and production activities for PennzEnergy, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company that was formerly a business unit of Pennzoil Company. In this capacity, he directed activity in 10 states and Gulf of Mexico state waters with an annual capital budget of over $100 million.

From 1990 to 1997, Gary was with Hunt Petroleum Corporation, serving as Vice President of Operations as well as Vice President of Exploration and Production for Aviara Energy Corp., a Hunt subsidiary.

From 1972 to 1989, Tenneco Oil employed Gary, where he served in a number of management and technical positions including Offshore Division Production Engineering Supervisor, Chief Production Engineer, Texas Gulf Coast Division Production Manager and International Division Production Manager. Mabie began his industry career as a petroleum engineer with Gulf Oil Corporation.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mabie earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering. He is currently a board member of Louisiana Independent Oil and Gas Association and serves on the Petroleum Engineering Industry Advising Board for Texas A&M University. He served on Louisiana Governor Foster’s Energy Committee and was an executive board member of Louisiana Mid-Continent Oil and Gas Association. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, Independent Petroleum Association of America, Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association and the American Petroleum Institute.
