Research Interests

The research in my group is centered around understanding, modeling, characterization, and management of energy resources and environmental systems. One of our main research focuses is on application of signal/image processing, estimation and control theory in stochastic reservoir identification, forecasting, and management. Specific research topics in my group include: application of sparse reconstruction methods in subsurface characterization, transform-domain reservoir parameterization methods, geostatistical modeling of the subsurface environment, inverse modeling and data assimilation for subsurface imaging (geothermal/hydrocarbon/CO2 sequestration reservoirs), effective design and characterization of CO2 sequestration systems, efficient reduced-order surrogate models for production optimization, and model predictive control and management of energy resources including production optimization in smart oil fields. Further details can be found in my research website.
