Research Interests

Behnam Jafarpour joined the department as an assistant professor after completing his Ph.D. and M.Sc. degrees at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2007. His research is geared towards understanding, modeling, characterization, and management of energy resources and environmental systems. His current research focus is on application of signal processing, estimation, and control theory in stochastic reservoir identification, forecasting, and management. Among other topics of interest to him are geostatistical reservoir modeling, effective reservoir description, parameterization, model reduction, data assimilation, and closed-loop control of smart oilfields.
